to Ask During an Interview
Asking
questions about the role is important to understand
not only the workings of the department, but also what
expectations would be placed on you.
-Why
is the position open?
-Why did the last person leave?
-What are my primary challenges?
-How are evaluations done? (and how often)
-What are some short-term/long-term goals for the person
you bring in?
-What is a typical career path for this position?
-What are the goals of the department?
-How would you describe your management style?
You
should also get an understanding of the company, culture
and working environment.
-What
are the company's plans for future growth?
-What are the company's strengths and weaknesses?
-Does the company promote from within?
-What are the company's strengths and weaknesses?
Do
not ask any of the following.
-Anything
that is already answered in the company's literature
or web site.
-What will my salary be?
-What are the company's benefits packages?
